Inis Escargot operate a snail & suckler farm and provide on-farm and virtual snail farm training, based in Virginia, Co. Cavan. The suckler farm produces top-quality weanlings; the snail farm rears, fattens, finishes and exports Inis Escargot snails direct from the farm.
Founder Peter Monaghan recognised his small suckler farm wouldn’t create a viable income alone. After investigating many options, most too costly or too high-risk, he found that snail farming filled a real market gap at low investment and low risk.
After extensive research and a lot of hard work, Peter established Inis Escargot in 2015. Today it’s one of Ireland’s largest and most high-profile snail farms, leading the way in knowledge and experience, with a method perfected for Irish conditions.

Wanting to pass on his knowledge, Peter developed a unique training programme, on-farm and virtual, with ongoing support, to build a network of successful snail farmers across Ireland.
